Prologue (Not related to actual post FYI): It’s been a while since I blogged. Well, a few days back only I have decided to blog again often, so I tweeted. Actually it was my old blog. Then thought starting one under my identity. So started this and got a URL as murshid1988.wordpress.com. Meanwhile I didn’t want to lose my old posts and comments, so moved the old one here, then I tweeted.
Okay! The thing is yesterday I got the chance of getting into the bus. Traveled from Mount Lavinia till Kollupitya. As fas I experienced it was super cool. These buses are running in Colombo since last month. Even though I saw them a few times couldn’t have a chance of traveling it as I had rush for other works. Talking about the bus, it is ‘Volvo 8400 city bus.’ So it has very low-in-hight body, in the sense you can get into it without any trouble. And when you talk about the A/C, it is super cool. Depending on Colombo’s so hot weather and very short distanced but halts the heated air comes in whenever they open the shutter. There is a screen at dash board which shows a live video which is being taken by the camera at the second shutter. So the driver can check whether there are anyone to get down from the back. If we press the button to ring the bell, a girl’s voice echoes saying “Stop please.” These are some cool features of the bus.

an intro video or whatever
I went through an article in Volvo’s official press release about these new imports of Sri Lankan Government. So it is imported from India as the article reads. While in the bus I had a chat with the conductor and driver and they said “Only 3 buses are imported and they are running successfully. So the authority has decided to import more buses soon.” But as the article says there are around 6 buses already. Well I have no idea. But I warmly welcome these buses! I have never liked traveling in the so called ROSA buses even though they are fully A/C. But I have no idea why these buses attract me a lot. Just as I liked traveling on the top deck of the Double Decker buses which run in Moratuwa-Pettah route. Well, I should write about the Double Decker experiences as well. I wish that the government don’t make them off service. Having classics with us is a very good attraction.
Now back to point. Lately I have come across a rumor or not-rumor, call it as you like. Someone was telling that the government imported these buses to shut the mouth of the private bus owners who did a big strike asking to increase the bus fairs. So government got them here and pointed out the strikers telling, “Don’t make us import more.” Then afterwards the strike came to an end.
Epilogue (Some useful info about this particular bus I traveled): Well it is running on the route of 100 which is Morattuwa-Pettah. In its daily schedule, one is starting at 9.30 am from Morattuwa. And the fair is just as double as the normal other buses and same as other A/C buses. So guys, give a try!

Hey thanks Murshid for sharing,
Awaiting to get on this. !
Standing allowed or just seated?
Hey Isura!
You should give a try!
Thanks! Yeah standing is allowed
not in kandy
Well, I think the environment is not suitable for Kandy to have these model buses as far as they have low floor. I wish government would import a different model of buses for other places soon
Gr8 work buddy.. thanks for the update! nice to see this modern buses than TATA LAL crap
Btw, how much is the ticket?
this is great work by the government. i appreciate them. but first should change attitude of the people. how to drive, how to behave in such kind of bus.
